Chapter 8 :
In Chapter 8 John Piper talks about how it doesn't matter where you work, or what you do, if you are doing it for God nothing else matters. Not everyone is called to be a missionary, but we can do God's work in the places where we are, here and now.
On page 135 John Piper said "...What Paul does mean is that when we are converted we should not jump to the conclusion, my job must change. Rather our thought should be, God had put me here, and i should now display his worth in this job. (1 Cor. 7:17-24)." This really stuck out to me and made me realize that I don't need to go to a far away place to tell people about Christ but in my everyday life here in Oklahoma.
God made the birds sing, the wind blow, the ocean waves...wave, and has given to us gifts and talents and the ability to practice them. Therefore we should give God continuous Thanks for everything he has done and given to us."He himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything" Acts1 7:25 "Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great!" Ps. 104:1
A portion of chapter 8 it takes about beavers, hummingbirds and spiders and ants. It takes about how these animals are extremely hard working and have tones of creativity. We should work just like these animal in the way we glorify Christ. We should strive to be creative and hard-working for God other wise we aren't using the abilities that he has given us. "If you are not God, but like God-that is, if you are human- your work is to take what God has made and shape it and use it to make him look Great."
